Sales Engineer Position at Oxford Instruments Plc
Job OverviewOxford Instruments Plc is seeking a skilled Sales Engineer to join our team in India. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and building strong relationships with customers.
About the RoleWe are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven individual to fill the role of Sales Engineer. In this position, you will combine technical knowledge with sales management skills to achieve sales targets and build a strong presence in the market.
Your primary responsibility will be to travel across India, generating sales activity and achieving agreed financial targets. You will also be responsible for generating, qualifying, and managing sales leads, prospects, and new customer accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travelling across India to generate the appropriate level of sales activity and achieve agreed financial targets
- Generate, qualify and manage all sales leads, prospects and new customer accounts
- Maintain CRM and report, sales forecasts, potential sales, customer feedback and activity plan and other reports, as required.
- Interact with prospective buyer right from the first contact, through tenders, Negotiation and closure of orders.
- Identify new business opportunities and take appropriate action.
- Follow up any new enquires promptly and efficiently.
- Build and maintain relationships with our customer base through regular travel and site visits.
- Should be able to use the CRM and generate quotes using the software.
- Constantly updating the CRM for a process driven Sales activity discussion.
- Maintain contact with Team Leader/ Line Manager, ensuring that they are kept aware of progress.
- Work with sales and marketing teams to provide feedback on our competitive position in the market and product/market intelligence.
- Attend shows and exhibitions, as necessary.
- Report on sales and market issues via the CRM.
- Work with service team to provide fast and professional response to customer issues.
- Participate in training and development activities as required.
- Project a professional and competent image of Oxford Instruments and it's products at all times.
- Operate at all times in accordance with health and safety at work legislation.
- Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities in line with the scope and level of responsibility of the post.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree in engineering or a related field. A proven track record in technical or analytical instruments sales, with a focus on complex long sales cycle projects, is essential. Experience managing distributor networks in India is also desired.
You will also need to possess excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly and effectively communicate and understand technical concepts and solutions in person, in writing, and over the phone to both customers and colleagues.
A willingness to travel locally and internationally on a regular basis is also required.
We offer a competitive salary of ₹1,200,000 - ₹1,500,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Estimated Salary: ₹1,350,000 per annum
