Historically the role of IT has been to provide a reliable ecosystem to run the business drive efficiencies and reduce costs These areas remain integral however driven by the quickening pace of innovation IT must evolve proactively partnering with the business to enable new digital business models that power new types of customer engagement At Elanco our engineer roles bring adaptive set of skills focused on software engineering covering Software-as-a-Service SaaS Commercial-of-the-Shelf CotS and or Custom Developed applications Working closely with Solution Ops Architects helping define strong reference architectures that result in secure scalable applications that achieve the desired business outcome We are looking for an Engineering Manager to help with the expansion of our enterprise engineering function The role will be responsible for team leadership technical direction hiring and coaching of our engineers across the solution ops space located in our Elanco Innovation and Alliance Centre IAC Bangalore We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an innovative mindset and a willingness to drive tangible outcomes The individual must be able to partner with Software Engineering and Platform leadership team to build an engineering strategy covering hiring training and management of staff and support staff across the organisation Responsibilities Engineering xc2 xb7 Join the Engineering lead team setting team vision and direction including strategy hiring onboarding and continuous technical management xc2 xb7 Drive scaled delivery model through key vendor relationships to provide facility to deliver engineering excellence across functional IT teams xc2 xb7 Coach engineers helping to develop technical skills find opportunities across engineering to build a good engineering competency across the organisation xc2 xb7 Engage across our enterprise web platform development toolchain automation and our business discovery capabilities to help strategize and align technical direction xc2 xb7 Drive good Engineering practices across the teams partnering with our process engineer to drive strong engineering discipline across the engineering organisation xc2 xb7 Identify opportunities to modernize and optimize the IT ecosystem xc2 xb7 Support the process to define embed and scale Software Engineering and Platform including governance processes etc xc2 xb7 Drive new ways of working to engage our engineering team e g leading hackathons xc2 xb7 Ensure good operational support processes for key engineering products supported by the team including dashboards security products web products Leadership xc2 xb7 Provide strategic leadership for the team leading all engineering initiatives related to platforms and act as a respected contact with the wider business on all aspects of the role xc2 xb7 Be responsible for leading a team of platform engineers delegating tasks and responsibilities and providing guidance and mentorship This includes coaching the team on engineering best practices xc2 xb7 Work closely with teams and collaborate with other management personnel xc2 xb7 Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Platform Engineering to continually increase skills and competency of our internal team members xc2 xb7 Partner with leadership to help inform roadmap direction to continually increase platform engineering efficiency xc2 xb7 Act as a subject matter expert in Platform Engineering providing strong technical coaching to team members and ensuring we are building broad engineering skills across Elanco Stakeholder Engagement xc2 xb7 Influence application modernisation including languages and frameworks utilised across custom built applications to ensure our applications remain modern efficient and well supported xc2 xb7 Identify opportunities to minimise operational effort required to run SaaS COTs applications partner with teams to further challenge vendor partners in the capabilities provided xc2 xb7 Work with process roles across solution ops to ensure standards and governance are well understood and consumable by both vendors application teams and product managers xc2 xb7 Partner on initiatives to stand up and continually modernise software development processes using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery CI CD techniques to ensure efficient and high-quality delivery xc2 xb7 Establish a strong partnership with Information Security working with our application reliability engineering to identify opportunities and mitigate risks in our application estate Community xc2 xb7 Proactively engage with the IT community internally and externally across multiple channels looking to share represent educate and inspire xc2 xb7 Evangelise Elancos technical products helping upskill other areas of the business on how to utilise our web technologies appropriately xc2 xb7 Serve as a coach for IT Analysts Engineers to advance individuals technical acumen xc2 xb7 Actively build and stay abreast of emerging technology directions specifically application architecture guiding IT and the Business on how to interpret and best leverage emerging technologies Innovation xc2 xb7 Partner to drive a DevSecOps culture across the organisation xc2 xb7 Identify everyday opportunities to drive more efficiency through the identification of repeatable process using of automation techniques xc2 xb7 Use modern product approaches to influence and shape he business through partnership with BRM Business Relationship Management utilising modern product approaches such as rapid prototyping and embedding a show them dont tell them culture xc2 xb7 Help with the stand up and creation of an innovation rapid response engineering squad to facilitate ideation and business idea shaping around technology products and investments Basic Qualifications xc2 xb7 Technical coach or management experience essential xc2 xb7 Previous hands-on development experience preferred including o Experience working with modern application architecture methodologies Service Orientated Architecture API-Centric Design Twelve-Factor App FAIR etc o Experience working with Cloud Native design patterns with a preference towards Microsoft Azure Google Cloudo Experience working within a DevSecOps culture including modern software development practices covering Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery CI CD Test-Driven Development TDD etc xc2 xb7 Demonstrated influence and communication skills across all levels of IT and third parties xc2 xb7 Strong organizational and communications skills with multiple examples of being able to convey complex technical topics that resulted in a definitive direction xc2 xb7 Team Leadership within a consultancy organization managing clients and overseeing project delivery xc2 xb7 Infrastructure experience or appreciation desirableEducation Requirements Bachelors Degree in Information
