The purpose of this role is to:
Deliver the Data Management and Governance Audits, assist in the identification of Risks and to test key controls related to Data.
Support the planning, execution and reporting of a small simultaneous portfolio of Audit activity as set out in the Audit Charter and the annual Audit Plan.
Define and develop appropriate Data audit capability within NAB’s Internal Audit team and contribute to Audit’s Annual and Dynamic planning process.
This role sits within Internal Audit (IA). IA is the Third line of defence in ensuring the effectiveness of the organisation’s controls in detecting, preventing and correcting risk.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities for the role are as follows:
Behave in line with NAB’s values.
Plan and deliver Data audits covering data ownership/stewardship, master data management, metadata management and data architecture.
Efficient delivery and documentation of quality audit workpapers in the systems of record, including walkthroughs, control identification, control design assessments and control operating effectiveness testing.
Efficient verification of audit raised issues within internal SLA targets once the business indicate issues are complete, supported by quality workpapers.
Provide feedback and share knowledge with other colleagues to promote a performance and development culture.
Plan and project manage delivery of audits within agreed resource and time budgets.
Experience
Experience in data governance and/or management such as data ownership/stewardship, master data management, metadata management, data architecture, data glossaries is required
Understanding data management frameworks and industry best practices as well as data related regulatory obligations (including CPG235, GDPR and BCBS239) in the banking environment is preferred
Experience in unstructured data, Advanced SQL, Python and Data Visualisation tools will be an added advantage.
Understanding of data science and/or AI/ML practices would be an added advantage
Experience within Technology Audit or Risk Management / Assurance or Information Security is required
Essential capabilities
Technical skills:
Good understanding of Data governance, data management and data lifecycle management (including data risk management, data governance, data architecture, data modeling and design, data security, data integration, reference and master data management, data warehousing and BI, metadata management, data quality management and data lineage / critical data element management).
Big data tools – Familiarity with tools like Enterprise data warehouse, Splunk, or similar.
Soft skills:
A deep understanding of Data risks and controls.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Teamwork, Collaboration & Communication.
Excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong documentation.
Qualification Requirements
Degree or tertiary education in technology/data or related field
Relevant certifications, eg. CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), CISA (Certified Information System Auditor), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE) would be preferred but not mandatory
