The Assistant Manager for Designing andGarmenting will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design andgarmenting functions within the apparel retail division. Thisindividual will be responsible for managing the end-to-end processof product design, development, and production, ensuring adherenceto quality standards, timelines, and budgetaryconstraints.

KeyResponsibilities:

1. DesignManagement:

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and externaldesigners to conceptualize and develop innovative and trendsettingdesigns that resonate with the target audience.
    • Oversee the creation of design sketches, tech packs, andspecifications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Conduct regular trend research and analysis to stayabreast of evolving fashion trends and consumerpreferences.

2. ProductDevelopment:

    • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers totranslate design concepts into high-quality, commercially viablegarments.
    • Manage the sampling process,including prototyping, fitting sessions, and quality controlchecks, to ensure the desired fit, finish, and functionality of thegarments.
    • Coordinate with cross-functionalteams, including merchandising, sourcing, and production, tostreamline the product development process and meet projecttimelines.

3. GarmentingOperations:

    • Oversee garmenting operations, including pattern making,cutting, stitching, and finishing, to ensure efficient and accurateproduction processes.
    • Monitor productionschedules and capacity utilization to optimize workflow and meetproduction targets.
    • Implement quality controlmeasures and conduct regular inspections to maintain high standardsof craftsmanship and product quality.

4. VendorManagement:

    • Identify and onboard reliable vendors and suppliers forfabric, trims, and garmenting services, negotiating favorable termsand pricing agreements.
    • Build and maintainstrong relationships with vendors, fostering collaboration andensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
    • Conduct vendor performance evaluations and providefeedback for continuous improvement and supplierdevelopment.

5. Cost Management:

    • Monitor and manage costs throughoutthe design and garmenting process, ensuring adherence to budgetaryconstraints and cost targets.
    • Identifyopportunities for cost optimization, value engineering, and processimprovements to maximize profitability without compromising onquality or design integrity.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fashiondesign and garmenting roles, with a focus on product developmentand production management.
  • Proven track recordof successfully bringing fashion products from concept to market,with an understanding of design principles, garment constructiontechniques, and manufacturing processes.
