Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Vice President – Institutional Equity Sales to lead our equity sales team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in institutional equity markets, a robust network of institutional clients, and a proven ability to drive revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives and exceptional client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management:

  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with key institutional clients, including asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, insurance companies, and proprietary trading firms.
  • Understand clients’ investment strategies, needs, and objectives to provide tailored equity solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for top-tier clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.


Sales Strategy and Business Development:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within the institutional equity space.
  • Lead negotiations and deal structuring to secure new mandates and expand existing relationships.

Market Intelligence and Insights:

  • Stay abreast of market trends, equity research, regulatory changes, and economic developments affecting institutional investors.
  • Provide clients with timely and insightful market analysis, investment ideas, and strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the research team to ensure clients receive high-quality, actionable insights.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing equity sales team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing coaching and support.
  • Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the team.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with trading, research, compliance, and product development teams to deliver comprehensive solutions to clients.
  • Ensure seamless execution of client transactions and address any issues promptly and effectively.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to develop and execute targeted campaigns and promotional activities.

Reporting and Performance Management:

  • Prepare and present detailed sales performance reports, market updates, and strategic plans to senior management.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust strategies as needed to achieve business objectives.
  • Utilize CRM systems and other tools to track sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline management.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • MBA, CFA, or other relevant professional qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in institutional equity sales within the financial services industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in a senior sales role.
  • Extensive network of institutional clients and deep understanding of their investment processes and needs.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of equity products, trading platforms, and market structures.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute long-term sales plans.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
