Role : AVP - Chief of Strategy

Level : AVP

Reporting to the CEO

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Chief of Strategy, who will lead the development and execution of our long-term strategic vision for Solar / Wind / Hydro Power Renewable energy in India for the company. This role involves analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, navigating regulatory landscapes, and fostering partnerships to position the company as a market leader. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep expertise in the Indian solar sector, capable of translating insights into actionable plans that drive revenue growth, innovation, and sustainability.

Client / Employer : Leading player in India's renewable energy sector, specializing in Solar and Wind Renewable Energy solutions. Committed to India's clean energy goals under the National Solar Mission, the Co. is driving sustainable growth through innovative solar technologies and strategic partnerships.

Industry / Sector : Solar / Wind Renewable Energy

Location : Delhi / NCR

Alternate Saturday off.

It's a Corporate office role.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • **Education:**

Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Energy Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Certifications in renewable energy (e.g., from IRENA or similar) are preferred.

  • **Experience:**

10+ years in strategic roles within the renewable energy sector, with at least 5 years focused on Solar projects in India. Proven track record in strategy formulation, project management, and achieving growth targets in a regulated environment.

  • **Technical Knowledge:**

Strong understanding of solar technologies, grid infrastructure, and India's renewable energy ecosystem, including tariffs, auctions, and net-metering policies. Experience with tools like PVsyst, HOMER, or similar for solar Modeling.

Desirable:

Experience in international solar markets for benchmarking against India.

  • Background in consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG, or energy specialists (e.g., Deloitte Energy).

  • Demonstrated success in securing government tenders or large-scale solar projects (>100 MW).

Key Responsibilities:

  • **Strategic Planning:**

Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for Solar / Wind / Hydel energy expansion, including market entry, project development, and scaling operations across India.

Align strategies with national policies and Green Energy Corridors.

  • **Market Analysis and Intelligence:**

Conduct in-depth research on solar industry trends, competitive landscapes, regulatory changes (e.g., from MNRE, SE and state-level policies), and emerging technologies and energy storage integration.

Identify risks and opportunities in supply chains, tariffs, and subsidies.

  • **Business Development:**

Lead efforts to secure funding, partnerships, and collaborations with government bodies, investors, EPC contractors, and international players.

Drive M&A opportunities and joint ventures to expand solar portfolios.

  • **Policy Advocacy and Compliance:**

Engage with policymakers, industry associations (e.g., IREDA, NSEFI), and stakeholders to influence favorable regulations. Ensure all strategies comply with environmental standards, grid integration norms, and ESG frameworks.

  • **Financial Modeling and Forecasting:** Oversee financial projections, ROI analyses, and budgeting for solar projects. Collaborate with finance teams to optimize costs, including PPA negotiations and incentive utilization.

  • **Team Leadership and Innovation:**

Build and mentor a high-performing strategy team. Foster a culture of innovation, exploring R&D in solar efficiency, hybrid systems, and digital tools like AI for predictive maintenance.

  • **Performance Monitoring:**

Track key metrics such as capacity addition, market share, and sustainability goals.

Prepare reports and presentations for the executive board and investors.

  • **Stakeholder Management:**

Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and media events to enhance brand visibility in the RE sector.
