Position Summary: Responsible for translating each manufacturing process into the numerical and quantitative language that will serve as the basis of organizing, scheduling and accounting for those processes.


Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Advanced working knowledge of Plex data entry and Engineering Request modules.
  • Maintain databases so that production and purchasing can be organized, scheduled and accounted for.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of the various production processes at Shape.
  • Identify machinery and tooling used for all manufacturing processes, organize it into the proper work centers/cells.
  • Setup customers and ‘ship-to’ addresses and cross reference those to customer part numbers and Shape internal tracking numbers.
  • Partner with Program Managers through the process of completing new program launches and design, process flow, and customer requested engineering changes to ensure that all pertinent information is considered. This includes but is not limited to:
  1. Advanced knowledge of the Engineering Request module.
  2. Reviewing each ER for accuracy and working with the Program Teams to resolve issues.
  3. Setup customer and internal part numbers.
  4. Identify Part Types, (Purchased, Sub-Contracted, and Manufactured), and coorelate to the operation flow including information about work center, process descriptions, etc….
  5. Setup BOM’s and Process Routings by reading and interpreting the VSM (Value Stream Map) which identifies the manufacturing process flow.
  6. Advanced understanding of Multi-Out process and BOM setup.
  7. Enter part weight and material usage at Production Release.
  8. Assign next available internal drawing numbers.
  9. Releasing parts to Production which requires raw material approval and supplied or sub-contracted component approval (PSW).
  10. Obsolete parts when required.
  11. Manage regional sister ER’s when required.
  12. Setup new Customer Programs, Shape Programs, and Program Iterations when required.
  13. Link internal drawings to internal part numbers in Plex upon approval.
  • Set and remove Safe Launch operations upon request.
  • Lead and train EDT I’s.
  • Trouble shoot Control Panel and inventory consumption problems.
  • Advise CAD Dept. Mgr. on process improvements.
  • Create or modify work instructions.
  • Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description, as directed by the leader.

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering
  • Manufacturing experience a plus but not required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and Plex computer systems.
