Job Summary:
The Dean of Engineering – Academics is responsible for providing strategic academic leadership to the School of Engineering, ensuring excellence in teaching, research, and student development. The role involves overseeing academic programs, fostering innovation, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and industry partners to achieve the institution's vision and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Academic Leadership:
- Develop and implement academic policies, curricula, and programs that align with the institution's goals and NAAC/NBA accreditation requirements.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in teaching and research.
- Ensure the continuous improvement of teaching methodologies and academic delivery.
2. Faculty Development:
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members to ensure academic excellence.
- Facilitate faculty development programs, workshops, and training sessions.
- Promote research, publications, and participation in national and international conferences.
3. Student Development:
- Oversee student academic progress, curriculum advising, and co-curricular activities.
- Foster a culture of innovation, critical thinking, and professional development among students.
- Ensure a high standard of student engagement and satisfaction.
4. Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute long-term strategies for the School of Engineering in line with the institution's mission.
- Drive accreditation processes (NAAC, NBA, ABET, etc.) and compliance with regulatory bodies (AICTE, UGC, etc.).
- Establish and maintain partnerships with industry, government, and other academic institutions.
5. Research and Innovation:
- Promote and oversee faculty and student research initiatives.
- Foster an environment conducive to innovation, entrepreneurship, and patent development.
- Secure funding for research through grants, sponsorships, and industry collaborations.
6. Administration and Governance:
- Manage budgets, resources, and infrastructure effectively to support academic excellence.
- Chair meetings and committees to ensure smooth departmental functioning.
- Address academic grievances from faculty, staff, and students promptly.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: Ph.D. in Engineering or a related field from a reputed institution.
- Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of academic experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
- Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities.
- Visionary thinking with a focus on innovation and collaboration.
Preferred Attributes:
