National Retail Sales Manager

Position Overview:
The opportunity for the NSM position is a senior executive role focused on driving the vision for the Retail business vertical within the Company. Reporting directly to a Director, the selected individual will be tasked with expanding sales objectives, targeting both existing and new high-potential B2B customers in MT. The primary goal is to increase market volumes and sales by rapidly expanding the Company's product reach in premium GT stores.
This role requires a mix of functional and leadership capabilities. The incumbent will lead a team of Regional/Sales Managers across India to drive sales and strategic objectives. Effective collaboration with key departments such as Marketing, Supply Chain/Operations, and Finance is crucial to implement business strategies aligned with short- and long-term development goals.
The base location for this position is in Mumbai, with extensive travel required to meet set objectives. Exceeding revenue and distribution targets, building a top-class sales organization, and demonstrating year-on-year growth could lead to advancement to the role of Business Head – Retail within the Company.
Scope of work:
Strategic:
- Develop and execute sales plans for the retail market, focusing on hands-on and strategic leadership.
- Drive sales performance by implementing marketing initiatives and fostering a culture of exceeding targets.
- Collaborate with functional heads and the Board to ensure alignment with strategic goals and optimize profitability.
- Address trade aspirations, manage relationships, and provide market insights for product planning and distribution network expansion.
- Establish strong customer relationships and monitor performance trends to enhance operational excellence.
- Anticipate competitive moves and leverage first-mover advantages.
Operational & People Management:
- Lead recruitment, training, and talent management initiatives for the sales team.
- Communicate Company goals effectively and drive employee engagement and productivity.
- Explore new partnerships to drive revenue and elevate brand visibility in target markets.
- Strengthen the distribution network and recommend innovative sales campaigns and promotions.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- 15+ years of experience in FMCG, preferably within premium packaged food products.
- National-level experience or strong zonal experience in Modern Trade and Trade Marketing preferred.
