Job Summary:


The Senior Travel Sales & Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sales and operations within the travel agency or tour operator.

They play a pivotal role in driving sales, managing client relationships, and ensuring seamless execution of travel services. This position requires a blend of sales acumen, operational expertise, and excellent customer service skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Sales Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and maximize profitability.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and relationship building.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, travel agencies, and individual travelers.
  • Provide personalized travel recommendations and itineraries based on clients' preferences and budgetary constraints.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers, such as airlines, hotels, and transportation companies.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotional campaigns and attract new clients.

Operational Oversight:

  • Coordinate all aspects of travel arrangements, including booking flights, accommodations, transportation, and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including visa requirements, health and safety guidelines, and travel restrictions.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for travel products and services to meet demand.
  • Resolve any issues or concerns related to bookings, cancellations, or itinerary changes in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions, invoices, and payments using internal systems or software.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Team Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior sales and operations staff, including training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure smooth workflow and optimal productivity.
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and exceeding performance targets.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for key clients, addressing their inquiries, resolving issues, and managing expectations.
  • Proactively anticipate clients' needs and preferences to provide personalized service and enhance satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, presentations, and reviews to review performance, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for upselling or crossselling.
  • Build longterm relationships with clients based on trust, reliability, and integrity.

Market Research and Analysis:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify target segments, customer preferences, and emerging destinations.
  • Use datadriven insights to optimize pricing strategies, product offerings, and promotional activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in travel sales, operations, or a related role, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior or leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of travel industry trends, products, and destinations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in travel booking systems, such as Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Detailoriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fastpaced environment.
  • Fluency in additional languages (desired but not required).
