Role Overview

At Fawkes Energy, we're decoding batteries, inside and out. We're building an intelligence layer that understands how batteries age, behave, and break down. We need someone who doesn't just use simulation tools but gets what's going on under the hood.

We're hiring a Battery Modeling & Simulation Engineer to lead our efforts in modeling SoC/SoH, degradation, thermal behavior, and digital twin frameworks. If you enjoy diving deep into battery physics, obsessing over accuracy, and tuning your models with real-world test data, this is the role for you.

What you'll work on

  • Develop digital twin frameworks for real-world packs
  • Build and validate equivalent circuit models, reduced-order electrochemical models, and deterministic aging models
  • Develop SoC and deterministic SoH estimation algorithms
  • Simulate thermal, electrical, and degradation behavior at both cell and system level
  • Hands-on experience with Kalman filters and numerical optimization algorithms
  • Plan, execute, and analyze calibration tests in our in-house lab (you'll get full access)
  • Work with data from our labs (testing equipment and EIS equipment) and the field
  • Collaborate with test engineers, embedded engineers, data scientists, and analysts to close the loop from simulation to deployment
  • Gradually lead junior team members and take ownership of key IP that powers our analytics and embedded products
  • Contribute to patent filings and support IP development

Who you are

  • A PhD in electrochemistry, mechanical/electrical engineering or similar (fresh grads welcome) OR a Master's degree with 2–5 years of strong hands-on experience in battery model development. Exceptionally smart fresh PhDs are welcome, especially if you've built your models from scratch
  • A physics-oriented thinker who loves turning theory into working simulations
  • Strong grip on physics-based modeling, thermal behavior, and battery degradation
  • Not just a tool-user, you understand the governing equations and assumptions behind every model
  • Experience in SoC/SoH estimation or digital twin implementation
  • Bonus: Prior exposure to ML-based battery degradation modeling is a huge plus
