Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development: Develop andreview the history curriculum ensuring alignment with educationalstandards historical scholarship and the needs of students.Integrate diverse perspectives and historical methodologies intocourse content.

  2. Instructional Leadership: Provide guidance and support tohistory faculty in instructional methods curriculum implementationand assessment practices. Foster a collaborative and innovativeteaching environment.

  3. Faculty Management: Recruit hire and evaluate historyfaculty members. Provide mentorship professional developmentopportunities and ongoing support to ensure faculty members growthand success.

  4. Administrative Duties: Manage departmental budgetsresources and facilities. Coordinate scheduling of history coursesoversee student enrollment and address any administrative issueswithin the department.

  5. Student Support: Support student academic success byoffering guidance counseling and academic advising. Foster aninclusive and supportive learning environment that promotescritical thinking and historical inquiry.

  6. Research and Scholarship: Encourage and supportfaculty research and scholarly activities. Foster a culture ofintellectual inquiry and historical scholarship within thedepartment.

  7. CommunityEngagement: Foster partnerships with local historical societiesmuseums and other community organizations. Organize events lecturesand workshops to promote public engagement with history.

  8. Assessment and Evaluation: Developand implement assessment measures to evaluate student learningoutcomes and program effectiveness. Use datadriven approaches tomake informed decisions about curriculum and instructionalpractices.

  9. ProfessionalDevelopment: Stay current with developments in the field of historyeducational best practices and pedagogical innovations. Participatein conferences workshops and professional organizations to enhanceexpertise and promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (typically a Ph.D.) in History or arelated field.
  • Substantial teaching experiencein history at the college or university level.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and administrativeexperience.
  • Strong interpersonal andcommunication skills.
  • Commitment to diversityequity and inclusion in education.
  • Activeengagement in scholarly research and publicationpreferred.
