An STP Plant Operator monitors, operates, and performs routine maintenance on a sewage treatment plant to ensure it functions efficiently and complies with environmental standards. Key responsibilities include operating equipment like pumps and aerators, analyzing water quality, maintaining records, performing equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting operational issues to effectively treat wastewater.

Role & responsibilities

  • Plant Operation & Monitoring: Oversee the day-to-day operation of the STP, including starting and stopping equipment such as pumps, blowers, motors, and chemical dosing systems.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance on plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues.
  • Water Quality Analysis: Regularly test and analyze water samples to monitor water quality parameters (e.g., pH, BOD, COD, turbidity, chlorine levels) and ensure treatment processes are effective.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs and reports detailing plant operations, performance data, and compliance documentation.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational issues, coordinating with maintenance staff when necessary to ensure smooth plant function.
  • Compliance: Ensure all plant operations adhere to local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
  • Safety: Follow all safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and participate in emergency response activities as required.
