Role & responsibilities

  • Overall in-charge of the Billing Department activities.
  • Looks after inpatient, outpatient, credit billings and petty cash maintenance.
  • M I S (daily billing reports about sales and collections) preparation.
  • Monitors OP / IP billings performance shift wise.
  • Bill collections follow up on daily basis and continuous monitoring of the same.
  • Bill updation of all the procedures done to the patient on daily basis.
  • Ensures charges for the hospital services based upon the tariff.
  • Gives estimation to the self paying patients and Corporate Patients.
  • To ensure that all the services are charged before final bill is made.
  • Takes written consent from the Patients attendants on payment terms.
  • Discusses with the consultants and Transplant coordinator for organ transplantation cases- estimate, deposits and payments.
  • Explains the line of treatment being given and the reason for taking such deposits at the time of admission to the patients and their attendants.
  • Gives break-ups of the treatment bills for re-imbursement, insurance claims.
  • Guides the Billing Co-coordinator on various issues from time to time.
  • Guides poor patients in getting aid from CM relief funds.
  • Provides inputs to Finance and Accounts department regarding day to day transactions.
  • Ensures to send all the copies of the bills to the Finance & Accounts Department.
  • Gives inputs for tariff revision and related issues.
  • Supervision of credit bills preparation and submission to the concerned people.
  • Staff training.
  • Coordination with all the concerned departments.
  • Staff deployment, duty rosters, work allotment and related issues.
  • And any other jobs assigned by the reporting authority as per exigencies of work.
  • Counselling for open operations.
  • Counselling for ICU patient about their stay, procedures as well as billing.
  • Counselling the CGHS/Corporate patients.
  • Follow up the payable of patient bills.
  • Explaining the patients & attendants about bill status and explain about planning/usage of costly drugs & consumables or costly procedures.
  • Inter departmental co ordination.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

Administrative

  • Possess information related to Hospital procedures/protocol
  • Preparing duty roasters for the department
  • Managing Leaves and permissions
  • Attend meetings and self-development programs.
  • Attends related meetings and gives input on new methods of improving outpatient services.
  • Provide training to the staff
  • Maintains discipline, dress code and punctuality among the staff
