The BIM Manager will lead and oversee the development, implementation, and management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and workflows for projects across the design and construction phases. The BIM Manager will work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, innovative, and efficient BIM solutions that support the objectives of the organization. The BIM Manager is responsible for the revenue, quality, timeliness, and budgets of all BIM projects.

Key Responsibilities

BIM Management and Strategy

  • Lead the development and implementation of BIM standards, protocols, and workflows for design and construction projects.
  • Establish and manage the BIM execution plan for each project, ensuring adherence to industry standards and client requirements.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for BIM deliverables to ensure that project objectives are met within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of BIM tools and software, ensuring compatibility with project needs and organizational goals.
  • Develop and manage project-specific models, ensuring their accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to BIM processes and practices across all projects.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Facilitate collaboration between various design disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of models and workflows.
  • Lead coordination meetings with stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, to review BIM models, design intent, and project requirements.
  • Ensure BIM coordination processes mitigate clashes and ensure constructability through the use of clash detection tools and design reviews.
  • Act as a liaison between project teams and stakeholders to resolve BIM-related issues and foster efficient communication and decision-making.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of BIM specialists, drafters, and designers to ensure their professional growth and performance.
  • Provide training and guidance on BIM tools, standards, and best practices to design teams and other stakeholders.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, track progress, and provide regular feedback to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Project Management and Delivery

  • Collaborate with project managers to define project timelines, resources, and deliverables for BIM-related activities.
  • Monitor project performance and track the progress of BIM deliverables against the project schedule.
  • Ensure that all BIM-related tasks are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with the projects quality standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports and presentations, providing BIM-related data, visualizations, and insights for stakeholders.

Quality Control and Assurance

  • Perform quality control (QC) checks on BIM models to ensure adherence to project requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Review and validate model data for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Implement BIM processes that improve the quality of the design and construction process, such as automated reporting and model validation techniques.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in BIM tools and techniques to continuously improve quality and efficiency.

Client Interaction and Support

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on all BIM-related matters.
  • Provide BIM presentations, demonstrations, and updates to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure client feedback is incorporated into BIM workflows and models to maintain alignment with client expectations.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure all BIM processes and deliverables comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ISO 19650, AIA E202).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of BIM-related documentation, including models, drawings, reports, and coordination meeting minutes.
  • Ensure proper version control and data management throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelors (or advanced) Degree in Engineering or Architecture or Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 12+ years of experience in BIM design.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of BIM codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Client Interaction: Experience managing client relationships and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Client Management: Strong business development acumen with a track record of successful client engagement.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex technical concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage large-scale projects and lead multidisciplinary teams effectively. Project commercial awareness is essential.
  • Team Management: Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate a large project team.
