Primary Title: Head of Operations - Q-Commerce

Industry & Sector:
Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and e-commerce quick-commerce (q-commerce) — hyperlocal logistics, dark stores, and last-mile fulfilment networks operating in India. This on-site leadership role drives operational scale, SLA excellence and cost-to-serve optimisation across a high-velocity fulfilment footprint.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end q-commerce operations across dark stores, hubs and last-mile delivery; design and execute network strategy to hit SLA, speed and cost targets.
  • Build and scale on-ground teams and partner fleets—hire, coach and manage hub managers, riders and third-party vendors; define governance and operating rhythms.
  • Drive fulfilment efficiency using WMS/OMS/TMS improvements, route optimisation, inventory allocation and capacity planning to maximise throughput and reduce cancellations.
  • Own operational KPIs and customer experience metrics—improve on-time delivery, reduce lead times and manage returns and reverse-logistics processes.
  • Own the operations P&L: define budgets, control cost-to-serve, negotiate vendor contracts and deliver monthly financial and performance reviews.
  • Implement data-driven playbooks and automation initiatives; partner with Product, Engineering and Supply Chain to deploy operational tools and dashboards that scale.

Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have

  • Proven leadership in q-commerce, hyperlocal or last-mile operations within e-commerce or FMCG environments.
  • Track record of scaling dark-store / hub networks and managing rider/fleet operations on-site across multiple cities.
  • Hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Order Management Systems (OMS) implementations and process optimisation.
  • Strong commercial ownership—P&L management, cost-to-serve analysis and vendor contract negotiation experience.
  • Data-driven decision maker able to define and monitor SLAs, KPIs and operational dashboards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Track record of improving last-mile metrics via route optimisation, capacity planning and fulfilment engineering.

Preferred

  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or route-optimization platforms.
  • Familiarity with demand-forecasting techniques and inventory allocation models for short-lead hyperlocal networks.
  • Comfort with analytics tools or SQL for operational reporting and performance analysis.
