The Sports Head is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the complete sports programme of the school. The role focuses on developing strong physical education practices, managing sports staff, conducting inter-school events, and ensuring students' holistic physical development.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Planning & Administration

  • Develop and implement the annual sports curriculum for all grades.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual sports plans and timetables.
  • Ensure alignment of sports activities with ICSE norms and school policies.
  • Maintain stock and inventory of sports equipment; oversee purchase and repairs.
  • Prepare reports, records, budgets, and proposals for sports development.

B. Student Development

  • Identify talent and train students for inter-house and inter-school tournaments.
  • Encourage maximum student participation in physical activities.
  • Ensure fitness assessments and maintain performance records of students.
  • Promote discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.

C. Event Management

  • Plan and execute Sports Day, tournaments, fitness tests, assemblies, and workshops.
  • Coordinate inter-school competitions and leagues.
  • Organize coaching camps and special training sessions.

D. Staff Leadership

  • Supervise and guide all PE teachers, coaches, and assistants.
  • Conduct regular training, evaluations, and performance discussions.
  • Allocate duties and ensure smooth functioning of the sports department.

E. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safety protocols during all sports activities.
  • Maintain first-aid readiness and injury management procedures.
  • Ensure all sports practices adhere to school and ICSE guidelines.

3. Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed / M.P.Ed).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in school sports; leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of major indoor and outdoor sports.
  • Experience in conducting tournaments and managing large student groups.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to mentor students and motivate staff.
