Job Profile: Mall General Manager

Reports To: CEO/Board of Directors

Manages: Mall Assistant General Manager, Sales Manager, and other department heads (Marketing, Operations, HR).

Job Summary: The Mall General Manager is responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational efficiency, financial performance, and customer satisfaction of the furniture mall. This role requires a visionary leader who can drive sales, optimize store operations, manage a large team, and ensure a premium shopping experience for all customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning & Business Development:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business plans to achieve sales targets, profitability, and market share objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities, trends, and market demands within the furniture industry.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Formulate and implement long-term goals for growth and expansion.
  • Operations Management:
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all mall departments, including sales, logistics, customer service, and visual merchandising.
  • Establish and enforce operational policies, procedures, and standards to optimize efficiency and minimize costs.
  • Manage inventory levels, ensure effective stock rotation, and minimize shrinkage.
  • Oversee maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the mall premises.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and labor regulations.
  • Financial Management:
  • Develop, manage, and control the mall's budget, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
  • Monitor sales performance, analyze financial data, and prepare regular reports for senior management.
  • Implement cost-control measures and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth.
  • Resolve employee relations issues and ensure fair and consistent application of company policies.
  • Customer Experience:
  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently met across all touchpoints.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints and issues efficiently and professionally.
  • Implement strategies to enhance the overall customer shopping experience and foster customer loyalty.
  • Visual Merchandising & Store Presentation:
  • Oversee the implementation of visual merchandising strategies to create an appealing and inspiring shopping environment.
  • Ensure that furniture displays are attractive, well-maintained, and reflect current trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in retail management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in a large format retail environment or furniture industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving profitability.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and P&L management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in retail management software and MS Office Suite.
