Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary technical authority for the civil discipline, managing and guiding a team of civil engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Project Management & Coordination: Define scopes of work, manage budgets, monitor schedules, and ensure the timely availability and integration of civil data with other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, piping).
  • Design and Engineering: Oversee and potentially perform complex engineering analyses and detailed designs for various infrastructure and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with relevant design codes (e.g., ACI, AISC, Eurocodes) and standards.
  • Quality and Compliance: Coordinate quality audits, conduct design reviews, and ensure all design outputs meet internal procedures, client specifications, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Risk Management: Ensure engineering risk assessments are conducted and identified issues are addressed promptly.
  • Client and Stakeholder Liaison: Interact with the customer's discipline engineers throughout the project lifecycle, manage customer feedback, and represent the discipline during site visits or client meetings.
  • Construction Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase, assist with estimating, scheduling, and cost control, and help resolve any site issues.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship: Document best practices and value additions, communicate them to other project teams, and coordinate or provide training for assigned resources.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Typically requires a degree (graduate or postgraduate) in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: Significant relevant experience, often 12+ years in design engineering within an engineering or consulting firm, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering principles, with experience in using relevant software (e.g., SCIA, Navisworks, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit).
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, pro-active attitude, effective communication (written and verbal), problem-solving abilities, and the capacity for interdisciplinary coordination.
