Migration & Development

  • Design and implement a robust migration plan for 5,000+ articles and associated media assets from Contentful to WordPress.
  • Develop and configure custom post types (CPTs), advanced custom fields (ACF), and templates in WordPress to match existing layouts.
  • Write custom scripts/tools to automate bulk content and asset migration, ensuring internal links and file paths are updated accurately.
  • Implement scalable, SEO-friendly WordPress themes that replicate or improve upon the current site experience.

Quality Assurance & Launch

  • Collaborate with project management to coordinate content freezes and delta migrations leading up to cutover.
  • Perform exhaustive QA/testing across URLs, templates, redirects, and site functionality.
  • Lead execution of 301 redirects and validation to preserve SEO value.
  • Manage the DNS switchover and ensure a seamless, zero-downtime relaunch.
  • Cross-Functional Collaborative partner closely with SEO/analytics teams to maintain taxonomy integrity and minimize search traffic disruption.
  • Communicate risks, trade-offs, and technical decisions clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide post-launch support, monitoring, and optimization.

QualificationsRequired

  • 8+ years of professional web development experience, with a strong focus on WordPress engineering.
  • Demonstrated success leading at least one full-scale migration from Contentful (or another headless CMS) to WordPress.
  • Proficient in both front and backend coding , Strong proficiency with PHP, JavaScript or similar), HTML5, CSS3, and WordPress APIs.Experience with ACF, CPTs, custom theme development, and migration scripting , Python, or PHP).
  • Deep understanding of SEO best practices, site structure, and URL management during migrations.Strong grasp of site performance optimization, security, and scalability.Experience using Git/GitHub, CI/CD workflows, and cloud hosting platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, WP Engine).

Preferred

  • Prior work with large-scale content sites (5,000+ URLs).
  • Familiarity with Contentful APIs and data models.
  • Experience working alongside project managers and QA teams in agile environments.Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
