Senior WordPress Developer

About Us

Cubic Promote is a growing digital marketing / web development agency specialising in WordPress websites. We work with clients globally from our Sydney headquarters and are now expanding our remote team. We seek a senior WordPress developer based in India to partner with us long-term.

Role & Responsibilities

As our Senior WordPress Developer, you will:

• Customize WordPress themes (child themes, theme frameworks, custom templates)
• Manage and configure plugins (install, extend, troubleshoot, update)
• Optimize site performance: caching, image optimization, database tuning, code cleanup
• Ensure security best practices (hardening, backups, patching)
• Debug and resolve issues (frontend, backend, PHP, JS, CSS)
• Work with APIs / third-party integrations (if needed)
• Provide guidance on architecture decisions, scalability, and maintainability
• Occasionally assist with content updates or liaise with content team (if needed)
• Communicate clearly on progress, blockers, time estimates

You will often work autonomously, but must collaborate with internal team members (designers, project managers, content team).

Requirements / Skills

• Minimum 5+ years of solid WordPress development experience
• Deep knowledge of PHP (WordPress core), WordPress APIs, hooks (actions/filters)
• Strong competency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and jQuery
• Experience with WordPress theme frameworks (e.g. Genesis, Underscores, Elementor, etc.)
• Proficiency in plugin architecture, custom plugin development, plugin debugging
• Performance tuning experience (e.g., WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, object caching, lazy loading, database indexing)
• Familiarity with web performance tools (GTmetrix, PageSpeed Insights, WebPageTest)
• Knowledge of WordPress security best practices
• Experience with staging / deployment workflows (Git, FTP, SSH, CI/CD pipelines)
• Familiarity with MySQL / database optimization
• Good communication skills in English
• Ability to estimate tasks and stick to deadlines
• Self-driven, responsible, and able to work in a remote environment

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Gutenberg block development (custom blocks)
• Experience with headless WordPress / REST API / GraphQL
• Familiarity with multisite, WooCommerce, membership plugins
• Basic knowledge of SEO, schema markup, and on-page optimizations
• Experience working in an agency environment

Engagement Type & Working Hours

• This is a part-time / contract / freelance role
• Fully remote (you may be located anywhere in India)
• Expected commitment: ~20-30 hours/week (or negotiable based on workload)
• Flexible schedule, but overlap with Sydney working hours (AEST) will be needed for meetings, reviews, collaboration

Pay: ₹40, ₹80,000.00 per month
