POSITION SUMMARY

The Fair Labor Association seeks candidates for the position of Project Manager, India, for its project titled Harvesting the Future of Naturals in India. Reporting to FLA's Vice President, Innovation, based in Istanbul, Türkiye, the Project Manager will be responsible for: managing all project activities; assisting in establishing strong governance for the natural ingredients' coalition; assessing project partners' Human Rights Due Diligence systems; overseeing the work of the project implementing partners; improving the capacity of the natural ingredient suppliers in India to identify, remedy, and mitigate child labor issues in their immediate supply chains; conducting and reporting on field-level assessments during the harvest season; and consulting with local and national stakeholders.

This is a fixed-term, remote position based in Bangalore, India with up to 40% travel required to project areas in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. This is a Level 3/Geo 3 position with a salary equivalent $35,805 USD paid in Indian Rupee.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Project Implementation Duties

  • Lead the project planning, execution, and monitoring of all project activities.
  • Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan and track key indicators and outcomes.
  • Oversee partnerships with local implementing partners, processors, and suppliers.
  • Organize and facilitate partner coordination meetings, learning workshops, and field visits.
  • Develop progress reports, case studies, and internal updates.
  • Lead procurement processes, including Terms of Reference and RFPs.

Technical Oversight

  • Contribute to developing tools and adapting existing tools and training materials;
  • Lead field-level assessments (including worker profiling, grievance mechanism mapping, wage benchmarking)., observations, and desktop verification of practices by reviewing and analyzing project partner suppliers' documentation, assessment reports, and other research;
  • Facilitate supply chain mapping and visit the various tiers of the supply chain for assessments.
  • Facilitate implementation of child labor monitoring and remediation systems (CLMRS).
  • Deliver trainings and shadow field visits related to the project as required and provide capacity-building support to local suppliers and processors on HRDD topics, including supply chain mapping, occupational safety and health (OHS), and gender equity.
  • Pilot traceability tools and farm-level data collection systems.
  • Assist individual suppliers in developing and implementing action plans.

Coalition Governance and Coordination Duties

  • Manage coalition and advisory committees, and various caucuses. Prepare the meeting and finalize meeting minutes on an ongoing basis.
  • Organize General Assembly meetings in India, if needed.
  • Prepare and circulate agendas and update project materials and documents based on the decisions of the coalition.

Administrative and Finance-Related Duties

  • Review and adhere to project requirements, including progress, financial reporting, and communication plan.
  • Plan and forecast expenditure and project activities to ensure compliance with the project contract and budget.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial data to the FLA Finance team for planning, reporting, and auditing.
  • Provide regular updates to the General Assembly on project administration and finances.

Communication-Related Tasks

  • Serve as FLA's primary point of contact in India for HTF-Naturals project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with fragrance houses, processors, suppliers, and community actors to ensure stakeholder alignment and participation.
  • Represent FLA at conferences, meetings, and other events, as required.
  • Support external communications.
  • Provide translation support where needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 6 years of experience in managing multi-stakeholder projects on children's rights, human rights due diligence, responsible sourcing, living wage/living income, and occupational safety and health.
  • Background in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Office Suite; experience with MacOS preferred.
  • Strong writing skills, including authoring reports.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of information and data comfortably and accurately.
  • Strong commitment to the FLA mission of protecting workers' rights.
  • High-level oral and written communication skills; proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Strong organizational skills, program management skills, time management skills, and keen attention to detail.
