Job Title: Team Leader – Collections

Department: Collections

We are seeking a goal-driven Team Leader to supervise and motivate a team of Collection Agents. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who understands the nuances of debt recovery while managing performance, compliance, and morale. This role requires a firm grasp of collection strategies, regulatory compliance (FDCPA, TCPA, etc.), and the ability to mentor and guide a team to meet and exceed targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily activities of the collections team to ensure productivity and performance goals are met.
  • Coach, train, and mentor agents to improve call handling, negotiation skills, and compliance adherence.
  • Monitor calls and review account activity to ensure agents are following collection scripts, legal guidelines, and company standards.
  • Handle escalated customer issues and negotiate settlements as needed.
  • Track team KPIs: contact rates, recovery rates, promises to pay, and call quality.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of collection activities.
  • Coordinate with compliance and legal teams to stay updated on regulatory changes.
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and ethical recovery practices.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a collections environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of debt collection laws and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred).
