Job Purpose:

  • As a specification Manager, you will gain, defend, and manage product specifications for the Companies products within a target group of specifiers and influencers with the aim of increasing market shares, revenue, and profit.
  • You will be responsible for identifying new specification opportunities to increase sales volume and market penetration.
  • You will gain specifications leading to tangible sales growth in target architects, consultants, specifiers and major contractors.
  • You will obtain a commitment from key accounts for them to have our products named open specification either general spec or project basis.
  • The job holder will have the authority to make decisions involving commercial pricing in conjunction with the business head
  • You will build relationships with both external and internal customers.
  • Your core competencies will include communications, Planning, Personal Effectiveness, Change Management, Influencing and Negotiation, and Commercial awareness.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining a commitment from architects, consultants, owners and contractors/applicators for them to use our products where specified or on an open specification leading and drive the technical specification activity to key architects and consultants in the construction sector and industrial sector based on technical know-how and value proposition approach.
  • Leading and drive the transfer of knowledge and information of the companys solution to key architects and consultants as a continuous process developing strong relationships.
  • Drive and monitor the conversion rate of specification rate of specification by developing tangible specification monitoring Systems.
  • Lead and drive specification events such as training, workshops, and roadshows for architects, consultants, and key specifier.
  • Ambassador of the company and drive client development and customer management activities with architects, consultants, and specifiers.
  • To monitor specifications and ensure the flow of information during the early stage of projects which could of project stakeholders, tender progress, contractor bids, owners' involvement, etc.
  • Integrate with the relevant trade bodies and attend local or national events as required and attend trade exhibitions as required.
  • Ensuring new products are presented and orders secured.
  • Managing parties of both direct and indirect customers and throughout the company organization.
  • Establishing correlation between specification won and coordinating direct sales revenue with the aim of co-owning local sales targets.
  • Disseminating specification information as required to the sales team and attend team meetings to update on projects and specification progress.
  • Conducting specification and technical seminars to the target customer groups and other specifications opportunities via the general sales team.
  • Support the training and developing of new and existing sales team members to enable them to meet and exceed performance targets for specifications products.
  • Troubleshooting products issues in the field and evaluating product applications in the market.
  • Coordinate timely preparation and submittal of technical submissions to customers.
  • Communicating with customers, Sales Managers, and other appropriate parties to answer technical queries.
  • Communication: Communicates own ideas clearly and listens to others in an appropriates manner (both written and verbal) particularly with reference to technical information.
  • Planning: Ability to identify what needs to be done to achieve objectives, priorities key issues and plans to ensure desired outcomes.
  • Personal effectiveness: Demonstrates personnel commitment and problem- solving skills to deliver the required results.
  • Change Management: Drives through and manages changes in the working environment.
  • Influencing and Negotiation: Able to persuade others of the validity of their own argument whilst recognising the value in other peoples.
  • Commercial Awareness: Ability to apply wider business knowledge to make commercial decisions.
