Department: Retail Operations / Learning & Development

Job Purpose

To establish and lead the Jewelry Retail Academy, creating a structured HireTrainDeploy or Train-Hire-Deploy model that builds a future-ready retail workforce. This role is responsible for setting up the academy from the ground up, designing its framework, developing specialized training programs, and ensuring seamless deployment of trained professionals across both company-owned and franchise stores.

Key Responsibilities

Academy Setup & Strategy

  • Define the vision, structure, and operating model of the Jewellery Retail Academy.
  • Build the academy infrastructure including digital platforms, physical training centers, and governance processes.
  • Develop a scalable HTD or THD framework to support retail expansion and workforce readiness.

TrainDeploy Model

Train:

    • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs covering:
    • Jewellery product knowledge (metals, stones, certifications, craftsmanship)
    • Luxury customer experience and trust-building
    • Sales excellence and high-value transaction handling
    • Store operations, SOPs, and compliance
    • Occasion-based and cultural selling (e.g., weddings, festivals)
    • Ensure training content is modular, multilingual, and regionally adaptable.

Deploy:

    • Coordinate with Retail Operations and Franchise Partners to deploy trained professionals across stores based on business needs, skill match, and readiness.
    • Maintain a talent pipeline for rapid deployment during store openings, seasonal peaks, or expansion.

Franchise Store Support

  • Act as a learning partner to franchise store owners, ensuring alignment with brand standards.
  • Provide onboarding, certification, and refresher training for franchise staff.
  • Monitor training compliance and performance across franchise locations.

Program Execution & Delivery

  • Launch onboarding, certification, and continuous learning journeys for retail staff.
  • Build and manage a team of trainers, facilitators, and instructional designers.
  • Ensure consistent training delivery across all retail formats.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Retail Heads, Franchise Managers, Store Managers, HR, and Marketing to align training with business goals.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to leadership on capability building and workforce planning.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define KPIs for hiring & training effectiveness, deployment success, and business impact.
  • Use analytics and feedback to refine programs and improve learner outcomes.
  • Benchmark against luxury retail and jewellery industry standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, HR, Education, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in retail training, with at least 5 years in the jewelry (not mandatory) or luxury retail sector.
  • Proven experience in setting up a learning academy or large-scale training function.
  • Strong understanding of jewellery products, customer behavior, and high-involvement sales.

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms and digital content creation tools.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel across retail locations and adapt training to diverse audiences.
  • Multilingual proficiency is a plus.
