Position Overview
The Senior Manager - Procurement will be responsible for overseeing all strategic and
operational aspects of sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of MEP materials,
equipment, and subcontractor services for large-scale construction projects across India.
The ideal candidate will drive cost efficiency, ensure quality compliance, and align
procurement activities with project timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management
Develop and implement procurement strategies for all MEP packages, including
HVAC, Electrical (high-side and low-side), Plumbing, Fire Fighting, ELV (Extra Low
Voltage) systems, and related services.
Identify, evaluate, pre-qualify, and onboard reliable local and national
vendors/subcontractors, performing due diligence on capacity, financial status, and
capabilities.
Conduct market research to stay updated on material rates, industry trends, and new
technologies related to MEP works, using this data for cost benchmarking and
analysis.
Negotiation & Contract Management
Lead techno-commercial negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors to secure
optimal pricing, terms, and delivery schedules, ensuring best value for money.
Draft, review, and finalize purchase orders (POs), work orders (WOs), and
comprehensive subcontractor agreements in coordination with the legal and
commercial teams.
Manage post-award contract administration, including variations/change orders,
claims settlements, and ensuring all parties adhere to agreed-upon terms and
statutory compliances.
Operational Oversight & Project Coordination
Oversee the entire procurement cycle from inquiry to delivery and payment, ensuring
timely acquisition and delivery of materials to project sites.
Collaborate closely with project managers, design, engineering, and site teams to
understand material specifications, review technical requirements, and align
procurement schedules with overall project timelines.
Monitor inventory levels for critical items, manage stock, and ensure quality
standards and technical specifications are consistently met.
Reporting & Compliance
Implement and utilize ERP systems (SAP/Oracle preferred) for managing
procurement workflows, tracking orders, and maintaining accurate records.
Prepare and present regular Management Information System (MIS) reports and
procurement dashboards to senior leadership for review and decision-making.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, audit requirements,
and relevant Indian procurement laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain
Management, or a related field. An MBA or a certification in Procurement/Supply
Chain Management is an added advantage.
Experience: 15 years of experience in procurement and subcontracts management
within the MEP industry, or construction, infrastructure.
MEP Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge and a proven track record of handling
MEP systems and related equipment/packages are mandatory.
Skills:
o Excellent negotiation, leadership, and team management skills.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on cost-
effectiveness and value engineering.
o Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP software (SAP/Oracle), and a basic
understanding of design software like AutoCAD is a plus.
o Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and vendor relationship
management skills.
Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
