Job Summary:
The HOD Collections will serve as the overall in-charge of the companys retail, SME, and structured loan recovery operations. This role demands complete ownership of collection strategy, business performance, P&L management, scalability, and profitability.
As a core member of the leadership team, the incumbent will work closely with the Managing Director and Board to formulate and execute growth plans, ensure superior asset quality, and drive continuous improvement through innovation, analytics, and technology adoption.
The position calls for a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader – one with fire in the belly, exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and a strong execution mindset who thrives in delivering results under challenging business conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Business Leadership:
Formulate and implement the overall collection and recovery strategy across all business verticals.
- Lead annual business planning, budget preparation, and P&L management for the collections function.
- Build a scalable and tech-enabled recovery framework aligned with business expansion goals.
Drive continuous improvement through data analytics, automation, and process re-engineering.
Operational Excellence:
Oversee nationwide collection operations, including in-house, agency, and legal recovery channels.
- Establish robust early delinquency control mechanisms and late-stage resolution models.
- Monitor key metrics - delinquency ratios, recovery efficiency, and cost-to-collect – and take timely corrective actions.
Ensure optimal utilization of resources and cost efficiency without compromising performance.
Business Development & Growth:
Identify and secure new mandates and collection portfolios from financial institutions, NBFCs, fintechs, ARCs.
- Develop strategic alliances to expand the company's footprint and service capabilities.
Contribute to the design of new recovery-based business models and revenue streams.
Team & Performance Management:
Build, mentor, and lead a strong, performance-driven collections team across all levels.
- Set measurable performance benchmarks and implement a culture of accountability, agility, and high energy.
Encourage innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and on-ground ownership.
Governance, Complaints and Reporting:
Ensure strict adherence to all regulatory, legal, and ethical collection practices.
- Co-ordinate with legal partners on litigation and recovery proceedings.
- Prepare and present MIS, risk reports, and portfolio insights to the Managing Director and Board at regular intervals.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Prone track record in end-to-end collections, recovery operations, and P&L ownership.
- Deep understanding of NPA management, restructuring, and legal recovery mechanisms.
- Strategic and analytical thinker with strong execution and problem-solving skills.
- Inspirational leadership with excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Take-savvy and forward-looking, with the ability to integral digital tools and analytics into core operations.
- High priority integrity, residence, and result revenue set
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in NBFCs, banks, ARCs, or fintechs managing large-scale retail and SME collections.
- Exposure to digital-first and AI-driven recovery platforms.
- Demonstrated success in business development and managing external partnership.
- Ability to drive scale, transformation, and profitability simultaneously.
