The Opportunity: What's the Role?This isn't just a management role; it's a leadership opportunity to own the admissions engine for the entire state of Tamil Nadu. As the State Head, you will be the chief architect and driver of our admissions strategy across Chennai, Trichy, Salem, and beyond.
You are a hands-on leader who thrives on being in the field, mentoring your team, and achieving ambitious targets. You understand the nuances of student admissions, from grassroots school outreach to effective counselling and closing. You will be responsible for leading a multi-layered team of Centre Heads, Team Leaders, and front-line Admissions Relationship Managers (ARMs) to success, ensuring that Kalvium becomes the top choice for aspiring software engineers in the state.
What You'll Do: Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Planning:
Develop and execute the comprehensive admissions strategy for Tamil Nadu to achieve and exceed student enrolment targets.
Own the P&L and budget for admissions activities across all centres in Tamil Nadu.
Team Management & Mentorship (Hands-on Approach):
Lead, mentor, and directly manage the Centre Heads of Chennai, Trichy, and Salem, holding them accountable for their centre's performance.
- Provide strategic guidance and operational support to the Team Leaders overseeing the different verticals:
- ARM - School Outreach
- ARM - Prospecting & Counselling
- Area Admission Officers
- Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous learning. Conduct regular performance reviews, training sessions, and on-the-field coaching.
Travel frequently to all centres to lead from the front, participate in key meetings, and motivate the ground-level teams.
Operational Excellence & Funnel Management:
Take complete ownership of the end-to-end admissions funnel for Tamil Nadu – from lead generation to final enrolment.
- Utilize CRM and data analytics to monitor KPIs, track team performance, and make data-driven decisions to optimize the admissions process.
- Step in to resolve complex operational challenges, support high-stakes negotiations, and ensure a seamless experience for prospective students and parents.
Ensure rigorous implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all teams and centres.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Principals of top schools, heads of coaching centres, and other key influencers in the education ecosystem.
- Represent Kalvium at major educational events, seminars, and conferences across the state to enhance brand visibility and recall.
- Collaborate closely with the central Marketing team to design and execute effective state-level campaigns.
- Experience: 8+ years of overall experience,
- Industry Background: Understanding of field ecosystems and an alignment towards higher education.
- Leadership Style: A genuine "player-coach" who is as comfortable creating a high-level strategy as they are joining an ARM for a critical school visit. Demonstrably hands-on.
- Geographical Expertise: Deep understanding of the Tamil Nadu landscape, including key cities, cultural nuances, and the academic calendar.
- Skills:
- Exceptional team management and mentoring capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Mastery of sales funnels, lead management, and CRM tools.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and Tamil is mandatory.

- Mobility: Willingness to travel extensively (50-60% of the time) across Tamil Nadu.
