Role & responsibilities

  • Acquire, develop, and retain institutional and corporate clients for commodity products including metals, energy, and agriculture.
  • Execute trades, negotiate terms, and handle booking and pricing processes.
  • Analyze market drivers, prepare investment proposals, and advise clients on commodities and derivatives strategies.
  • Structure and present hedging and risk management solutions tailored to client requirements.
  • Collaborate with trading desks, research teams, and risk management to ensure efficient and compliant deal flow.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure all activities conform to legal and internal standards.
  • Maintain and expand business opportunities via cross-selling and coverage expansion initiatives.
  • Generate and review periodic sales reports for management, analyzing performance, revenue, and market penetration.
  • Represent the desk in client meetings, industry events, and internal forums, supporting senior management with market insights.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (advanced degrees preferred).
  • At least 5 years' experience in commodity sales, trading, or relationship management in banks or broking houses.
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets (physical and derivatives), pricing models, and risk management strategies.
  • Proven track record of achieving demanding sales targets and managing key client relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills; adept at handling complex deals and client presentations.
  • Proficiency with financial modeling, Excel, and trading platforms; familiarity with compliance and reporting tools.
  • Certifications such as CFA/FRM/other relevant qualifications are preferred, though not mandatory.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, multitask, and operate independently within high-stakes sales environments.
