Job Purpose: The Shift Incharge is responsible for managing and overseeing all mining operations during their assigned shift in iron ore mining. This role involves ensuring the smooth execution of drilling, blasting, loading, and transportation activities, maintaining safety and operational standards, and coordinating with various teams to achieve production targets. The Shift Incharge is also responsible for addressing any operational issues that arise during the shift, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining effective communication with other shift teams and management.

Shift Incharge Mine Ops - Mining

Shift Management and Coordination:

Oversee and manage all mining activities during the assigned shift, including drilling, blasting, loading, and transportation of ore.

Coordinate with the mine planning, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure all activities are aligned with the overall mining plan and schedules.

Monitor the performance of equipment and personnel, ensuring that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards.

Safety and Compliance:

Enforce safety protocols and procedures during all mining operations, ensuring compliance with the Mines Act and other relevant regulations.

Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks to promote a culture of safety among all shift personnel.

Ensure that all incidents, accidents, or near-misses are reported and investigated, and that corrective actions are implemented promptly.

Production and Performance Monitoring:

Monitor production metrics during the shift, ensuring that targets are met or exceeded, and identify areas for improvement.

Ensure that ore extraction, transportation, and processing activities are carried out efficiently, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

Provide regular reports on shift performance, production output, and any operational issues to the mine management team.

Equipment and Resource Management:

Ensure that all equipment is operated and maintained properly during the shift, coordinating with maintenance teams for any repairs or servicing needed.

Manage the allocation of personnel and resources to optimize operational efficiency and ensure continuous production.

Address any equipment breakdowns or operational issues promptly to minimize impact on production.

Communication and Reporting:

Maintain effective communication with other shift teams and management to ensure seamless transitions between shifts and alignment with overall mining objectives.

Report any significant issues, challenges, or achievements during the shift to senior management and recommend solutions as needed.

Document and report all shift activities, including production data, safety incidents, and equipment status.
