The Toolroom manager plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing sector, particularly within the Manufacturing industry.

The Toolroom head is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of the tool room personnel, managing inventory, and implementing systems that increase productivity and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all day-to-day activities in the tool room
  • Tool completion planning and execution on time.
  • Manage part trials and assist design team in mold strategies to optimize cycle time
  • Supervise tool room staff, including scheduling, training, and managing performance.
  • Work closely with production departments to understand their tool requirements and ensure timely availability.
  • Implement and monitor systems for tracking tool usage and maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the procurement of new tools or the repair of existing ones.
  • Maintain a detailed inventory of tools and equipment and ensure their proper storage and maintenance.
  • Assist in budget preparation for the tool room operations and monitor expenditures.

To qualify for a Tool Room Head position, candidates usually need the following:

  • An associates degree in tool and die technology; NTTF; mechanical engineering, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is often preferred.
  • Significant experience in tool room operations and management.
  • Strong understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software and other related technologies used in tool manufacturing and maintenance.
