Vice President of Software Engineering

Overview:
The Vice President, Software Engineering leads Software Engineering for the Pharmacy line of business. The team size is greater than 150 members and consists of architecture, engineering and quality associates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accountable for architecture, design, and delivery of multiple software products that make up a product portfolio:
• Work with the Product Management team to establish an annual roadmap for the products;
• Align the roadmap to a target portfolio investment mix. Drive improvements to the portfolio mix, reducing maintenance cost and increasing investment in new products;
• Lead design and implementation of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and implement all products/projects in accordance with the SDLC;
• Participate with Product Management and business leaders to define new products and services;
• Partner with the Customer Success organization to address product and solution issues as well as building process to systematically improve product quality;
• Manage all aspects of the engineering budget for a line of business or set of products.
• Define and evaluate organizational performance by implementing quarterly objectives, annual goals and annual review products.
• Maintain an expert level of knowledge regarding all products, services, infrastructure, and operations of the Employer, its affiliates, and any acquired businesses to achieve optimal insight into product development, capabilities, support, and functionality requirements of Inovalon, its affiliates, and any acquired businesses.
• Participate in, and serve as a key leader of, the Employer's senior leadership in the strategic development of initiatives to identify product, service, system, financial, and operations enhancements which may improve client appeal, process flow, business function, and valuation of the Employer.
• Build strong teams and leaders that will develop industry leading solutions. Develop organizational capacity through workforce strategy, budget/compensation planning, skills development, acquisition of required tools and technologies to promote highly engaged talent.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to establish the highest level of efficiency and best practices, including process changes, and tool enhancements.
• Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement.
• Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon's Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 15 years of experience leading global software development teams.
• Extensive experience managing global engineering teams of 100 or more.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience developing, deploying and operating solutions for commercial cloud (AWS, Azure).
• Minimum of 8 years' experience building/deploying/operating Hadoop based applications and infrastructure.
• Mastery level of knowledge of the following:
• Virtualized infrastructure technologies;
• Java and .NET platforms;
• SQL database infrastructure; and
• Agile methodologies.
• Clear understanding of software product business concepts, markets and strategies for growing software businesses. Preference for leading engineering teams at both start up and large software companies.
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry (e.g., Healthcare, Financial Services).
• Strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspective.
• Experience performing technology due diligence for acquisition targets and integrating acquired companies.

Education:

• Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering or Science discipline and/or equivalent work experience.
