Position Overview:

The Vice President of Product Engineering is responsible for the end-to-end engineering strategy, execution, and delivery of the company's product portfolio. This role leads engineering, architecture, QA, DevOps, and operations to ensure high-quality, scalable, and secure products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Engineering & Product Development Leadership

  • Lead the full engineering lifecycle from concept → design → development → testing → deployment → support.
  • Partner with Product Management to translate product vision, requirements, and roadmaps into engineering plans.
  • Drive architecture decisions, technical design reviews, and engineering standards.
  • Ensure products meet strict criteria for performance, scalability, reliability, usability, and security.

2. Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Hire, develop, and mentor a world-class engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
  • Establish best practices for performance reviews, succession planning, and skill development.
  • Promote collaboration between product, design, engineering, QA, DevOps, and security teams.

3. Engineering Operations & Delivery Excellence

  • Implement industry-standard methodologies—Agile, CI/CD, DevSecOps, TDD, automated QA, observability, SRE principles.
  • Oversee sprint planning, release management, velocity reporting, and delivery metrics.
  • Optimize engineering processes for predictability, quality, and faster time-to-market.

5. Technology, Architecture & Innovation

  • Evaluate and modernize technology stacks, tools, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Make build-vs-buy decisions based on long-term ROI.
  • Ensure strong system architecture guidelines, API standards, and data governance practices.
  • Drive innovation initiatives in AI/ML, automation, integrations, and cloud modernization.

6. Security, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Work with security teams to integrate DevSecOps and ensure products meet compliance requirements (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR, etc., as applicable).
  • Oversee incident response, SLAs, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.
  • Build secure-by-design engineering frameworks.

7. Stakeholder & Executive Collaboration

  • Act as the primary voice of engineering to the C-suite, board, and cross-functional leaders.
  • Present engineering roadmap, progress, risks, staffing needs, and budget recommendations.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Support to ensure customer-centric releases and ongoing reliability.

Required Qualifications:


• 12+ years of software engineering experience


• 6+ years leading engineering/product engineering teams


• Strong technical background in cloud, API, DevOps, distributed systems


• Proven success delivering enterprise-grade software at scale


• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional alignment skills

Preferred Qualifications:


• Experience in regulated industries (healthcare, life sciences, fintech, SaaS)


• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance frameworks


• Experience modernizing architecture and scaling engineering teams
