Why this Role

Our shopfloor is primarily managed through contract labour and job contractors and we are looking for a dynamic HR professional to strengthen our workforce management. This role is critical to bring in new ideas for labour engagement, ensure smooth operations and drive best practices in plant HR. The position will handle the entire gamut of Plant HR responsibilities and will directly report to the CHRO.

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Contract Labor Management:

  • Manage contract workforce planning in coordination with functional heads and contractors.
  • Ensure availability of adequate and skilled contract manpower as per production requirements.
  • Monitor attendance, performance, and discipline of contract workers.
  • Ensure timely and correct processing of contractor bills, wage payments, and statutory deductions.
  • Conduct regular audits of contractor records to ensure 100% compliance with labor laws.

2. Statutory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all labor laws applicable to contract and on-roll employees (e.g., CLRA, Factories Act, ESIC, PF, etc.).
  • Liaison with labor department and other statutory bodies as required.
  • Maintain and update statutory registers and records.

3. Industrial Relations & Employee Grievances:

  • Maintain harmonious industrial relations with all stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve grievances of contract and staff employees effectively.
  • Engage regularly with contract supervisors and ensure transparency in communication.

4. HR Operations:

  • Supervise Time Office functions and maintain accurate attendance and leave records.
  • Monitor HR-related costs and drive efficiency in HR processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee master data and records.

5. Training & Development:

  • Identify skill gaps among contract workers and coordinate with supervisors for on-job training.
  • Support implementation of safety, skill development, and behavioral training programs.

6. Audits and MIS:

  • Prepare and submit periodic HR MIS reports related to contract manpower.
  • Ensure readiness for internal and external audits.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and statutory requirements
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle pressure and resolve conflicts
  • Hands-on experience with HRMS / Time Office software
  • Excellent coordination and vendor management skills
