Business Head NdFeB/Rare Earth Magnet Division (EV Applications)

Role Overview

We are looking for a senior business and technology leader to head the NdFeB/Rare Earth Magnet Division and drive its growth across EV and advanced mobility applications. The role demands strong understanding of magnet materials, powder metallurgy, EV applications, and the ability to convert technical capabilities into scalable products and sustainable business outcomes.

This leader will own the P&L, strategy, operations, customer development, technology roadmap, and commercialization of NdFeB/Rare Earth magnetsfrom R&D through pilot scale to full industrialization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business & P&L Leadership

• Own the full business performance of the NdFeB/Rare Earth Magnet Division, including revenue, profitability, cost management, and long-term financial planning.
• Build and execute a multi-year business strategy for EV-grade magnet manufacturing, covering market entry, scale-up, pricing, and competitive positioning.
• Drive commercial growth across automotive, EV motors, industrial motors, and emerging mobility sectors.

2. Technology & Product Strategy

• Define the technology roadmap for NdFeB/Rare Earth magnets in alignment with EV motor performance requirements, OEM expectations, and global benchmarks.
• Work closely with R&D teams to guide development of next-generation magnet chemistries, processing routes, and quality standards.
• Ensure smooth transition of technologies from lab scale pilot scale industrial scale (TRL 47+).

3. Manufacturing Scale-Up & Operations

• Lead planning and commissioning of pilot and commercial-scale magnet production lines including powder, strip casting, compaction, sintering, machining, and coating processes.
• Ensure operational excellence in yield, consistency, reliability, sustainability, and cost competitiveness.
• Establish strong quality systems aligned with automotive norms (IATF, ISO), safety, and environmental standards.

4. Customer & Market Development

• Build strategic relationships with EV OEMs, Tier-1 motor suppliers, and global customers.
• Convert technical strengths into commercial wins through value proposition design, benchmarking, and long-term supply agreements.
• Identify new market opportunities across automotive, robotics, wind energy, and industrial applications.

5. Cross-Functional Leadership

• Coordinate seamlessly with R&D, engineering, procurement, supply chain, quality, and finance to ensure timely delivery of both technical and business milestones.
• Resolve escalations by balancing technical feasibility, speed, and commercial priorities.
• Build strong communication channels across internal and external stakeholders.

6. People & Capability Building

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performance team spanning R&D, process engineering, production, and business functions.
• Drive a culture of safety, accountability, scientific rigor, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with HR to develop hiring plans, competency development, and leadership pipeline for the magnet division.

Qualifications & Experience

• 15–25+ years of experience in magnet materials, powder metallurgy, advanced materials, or EV motor components, with at least 5–10 years in leadership roles.

• Strong understanding of NdFeB or rare-earth magnet processing:

• Alloying & strip casting

• Powder milling and handling

• Pressing, sintering, coating, and finishing

• Experience in setting up new lines/plants, scaling operations, managing P&L, and driving cross-functional teams.

• Proven track record of working with automotive or EV customers is preferred.
• Strong commercial acumen combined with deep technological appreciation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
