Position Summary

Sant Memorial Public School (SMPS) is a private, English-medium school in Gurgaon for grades pre-K to 8th that was established 49 years ago with the non-profit and noble mission of providing highest quality education to students coming from low income families.

The School Principal will serve as the academic and administrative leader of the school — shaping its culture, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning, and nurturing an environment where every child can thrive.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Strategy for Institutional Growth and Sustainability

  2. Work with trustees of the Society and management of the school to co-design a long and short term strategy for achieving institutional growth and sustainability.

  3. Execute on the above strategy and operations of the school by implementing all roles and goals assigned to them via this planning process.
  4. Work closely with the school management to further strengthen the reputation and financial sustainability of the school.
  5. Implement systems for monitoring and improving performance across academics, operations, and satisfaction levels.
  6. Drive initiatives that position the school as a model for affordable quality education.

  7. Academic and Instructional Leadership

  8. Lead the design and implementation of a strong academic program aligned with the school's board and learning outcomes framework.

  9. Ensure high-quality classroom instruction through regular teacher observation, coaching, and capacity-building.
  10. Use data and assessments to track student learning and drive academic interventions.
  11. Promote activity-based, inclusive teaching methods suited to diverse learners

School Operations and Administration

  • Oversee smooth day-to-day functioning of the school — including timetable, discipline, attendance, safety, and facilities management.
  • Ensure compliance with all board, safety, and government regulations.
  • Manage admissions, fee collection, and enrollment targets efficiently while maintaining transparency and fairness.
  • Support effective use of school budgets and resources, balancing quality with cost efficiency.

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Recruit and retain qualified teachers aligned with the school's mission and values.
  • Build a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular staff reviews and create opportunities for teacher training and professional growth.
  • Recognize and motivate teachers for performance and innovation.

Student Well-being and Development

  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Oversee student discipline, attendance, and engagement systems.
  • Encourage participation in co-curricular, sports, and cultural activities for holistic growth.
  • Foster character development, life skills, and values-based education.

Parent and Community Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication and feedback mechanisms.
  • Promote parent participation in school activities and community-building efforts.
  • Engage with the local community to enhance the school's visibility, credibility, and enrollment.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in Education, School Leadership, or related field (M.Ed./MA/B.Ed.); additional training in school management preferred.
  • 8–12 years in education with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or senior academic role; experience in affordable or community-based schools is desirable.
  • Strong instructional leadership, teacher mentoring, and school operations management; sound understanding of pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment; data-driven decision-making; financial and administrative competence; effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Deep belief in the power of education to transform lives; integrity, empathy, and professionalism; collaborative and motivating leadership style; adaptable, resourceful, and committed to continuous learning and school improvement.
  • Stong proficiency in spoken and written Hindi and English.
