Objective  

  • Holding the responsibility to ensure the Property & Casualty (P&C) underwriting and reinsurance strategies, standards and practices are aligned with the company's strategic directions and risk appetites.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day P&C underwriting process, ensuring risks are assessed accurately and priced accordingly.

Responsibilities  

  • Formulate and execute P&C underwriting strategies and business plan to support the grow of business to achieve sustainable returns
  • Keep abreast of developments in the global and regional insurance market landscape, driving actions to capitalize on business opportunities and mitigate threats
  • Leverage actuarial insights to balance the portfolio, optimize financial stability, and manage risk for sustainable insurance products
  • Drive the execution of Group Insurance transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and innovation, ensuring alignment with RHB Group's strategic priorities.
  • Oversee the P&C underwriting operations
  • Oversee full compliance within P&C Underwriting with regulatory, legal, and corporate governance requirements, proactively addressing risks and maintaining strong internal controls.
  • Embed a robust risk management culture within Underwriting Circle, identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial, operational, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop P&C team to cultivate a high-performance culture

Requirements 

  • Bachelor Degree in any relevant field.
  • ACII/AMII/ANZIFF or equivalent insurance qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years related working experience
  • Significant experience in leadership roles within P&C Underwriting
  • Proven experience in P&C portfolio management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Malaysian insurance landscape, including market dynamics, competitive forces, and emerging trends.
  • Track record of successfully executing initiatives and achieving demanding business targets.
