Role & Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting the DGM in strategic sourcing, vendor development, and procurement of consumables, machinery, and engineering spares to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality support for smooth operations of the Fabrication and Rolling Mill Plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the DGM in formulating and implementing purchase procedures for timely and cost-effective procurement.
  • Prepare, process, and follow up on purchase orders in line with company policies and approved terms & conditions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and user departments to resolve issues related to defective or delayed supplies.
  • Verify purchase orders, vendor bills, and supporting documentation for accuracy before submission to DGM for approval.
  • Follow up on vendor payments and support in resolving disputes in coordination with accounts.
  • Support in identifying and developing reliable vendors for cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Maintain records of budgets, procurement expenditures, and assist in periodic cost analysis.
  • Monitor inventory levels in coordination with stores and production to ensure adherence to MMR (Material Management Requirement).
  • Assist in scrap disposal processes, housekeeping compliance, and warehouse inventory management.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, and projects team for procurement support and cost optimization.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships for timely supply and service support.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for new project procurements.
  • Assist in preparing feasibility and viability data for capital items and project purchases.
  • Compile and analyze MIS reports and present observations/recommendations to DGM.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated by the GM or management.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of rolling mill & fabrication plant consumables, materials, and spares.
  • Experience in vendor management, procurement coordination, and negotiation.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and fabrication/plant machinery.
  • Proficiency in ERP and MS Excel for procurement-related documentation.
  • Good communication, coordination, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong organizational ability with focus on timelines and accuracy.

Qualification & Experience

  • B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical
  • MBA in Supply Chain / Materials Management will be an added advantage.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Engineering Procurement, preferably in Rolling Mills, Fabrication Plants, or Heavy Engineering industries.
