Job Description:
Job Title: Assistant Manager – Rubber/Silicone Technologies

Department: LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) / Rubber Molding
Location: Manufacturing Plant – Silvassa Unit
Reports To: Department Head / Plant Manager

Key Responsibilities:
1. Production & Process Management

  • Manage day-to-day production activities for rubber and silicone molding (LSR, HCR, or thermoset rubber).

  • Monitor machine efficiency, raw material usage, and output quality.

  • Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.

  • Supervise operations on injection/compression/transfer molding presses for rubber or silicone products.

2. Process Optimization

  • Control and optimize molding parameters like curing temperature, pressure, and cycle times.

  • Coordinate with R&D and QA for new product development and process validation.

  • Implement improvements using lean manufacturing or Six Sigma tools.

3. Quality Assurance & Customer Requirements

  • Ensure that molded parts meet internal quality standards and customer specifications.

  • Address customer complaints and quality deviations through root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Assist in PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, and other quality documentation.

4. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor the health of molding machines (e.g., Arburg, Engel, Maplan, Desma, etc.).

  • Coordinate with maintenance for breakdowns and preventive maintenance activities.

  • Troubleshoot molding defects like flash, short shots, air entrapment, or surface blemishes.

5. Material & Tool Handling

  • Work with different grades of silicone and rubber compounds, including peroxide or platinum-cured types.

  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and mixing of raw materials.

  • Manage mold changes, tool maintenance, and documentation for mold performance.

6. Safety, 5S, and Compliance

  • Promote and maintain workplace safety, fire safety, and use of PPEs.

  • Drive 5S implementation and adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) norms.

  • Maintain audit readiness for ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and other certifications.

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain shift reports, production records, rejection data, and downtime analysis.

  • Support in inventory management and reporting of material consumption.

  • Generate daily/monthly MIS and KPI reports for management review.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Polymer, Rubber Technology, Mechanical, or Production Engineering.

  • 4–8 years of experience in Rubber or Silicone molding operations (LSR, HCR, or EPDM).

  • Hands-on experience with rubber processing machines and mold technology.

  • Familiarity with IATF, ISO, PPAP, SPC, and other quality tools.

Key Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of rubber and silicone curing behavior.

  • Mold setup and troubleshooting skills.

  • Team supervision and shift management.

  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.

  • Good communication, ERP usage (SAP or equivalent), and documentation skills.
