About this opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Assurance Engineer (Level 2/3) to join our Network Operations team. The role focuses on operational support, triage, troubleshooting and assurance of transmission networks (SDH and DWDM), optic fibre infrastructure, and associated vendor equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, field teams and customers to restore service, prevent recurrence and support change activities following established processes.
What you will do:
- Provide Level 2/3 operational support for SDH and DWDM transmission networks, including fault triage, root-cause analysis and incident resolution.
 - Operate and support vendor equipment (preferably Marconi, Ericsson, GPT for SDH; Ciena, Marconi, Ericsson for DWDM).
 - Perform hands-on troubleshooting of transmission incidents, coordinating with field teams and vendors to isolate and remediate faults.
 - Manage and maintain optical fibre infrastructure records, test results and inventory; support fibre route and splicing investigations.
 - Execute jeopardy management practices to mitigate customer-impacting incidents and escalate appropriately.
 - Follow ITIL-based incident, problem and change management processes; participate in post-incident reviews and RCA activities.
 - Support and implement approved changes to transmission infrastructure, ensuring appropriate documentation and rollback plans.
 - Capture and record technical information clearly in written reports and verbal handovers for operations and stakeholders.
 - Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, playbooks and runbooks to improve mean time to repair (MTTR) and service availability.
 - Work effectively as part of a cross-functional team with a strong customer focus and adherence to safety and quality standards.
 
The skills you bring:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Transmission Assurance or Transmission Support (Level 2 or 3).
 - Proven experience operating/supporting SDH networks (experience with Marconi, Ericsson, GPT preferred).
 - Proven experience operating/supporting DWDM networks (experience with Ciena, Marconi, Ericsson preferred).
 - Hands-on experience applying triage and troubleshooting methodologies for transmission network incidents.
 - Solid understanding of optical fibre infrastructure architecture, testing (OTDR/OLTS) and management.
 - Familiarity with jeopardy management practices and incident mitigation techniques.
 - Working knowledge of ITIL principles (incident, problem and change management) or equivalent frameworks.
 - Understanding of Change Management fundamentals and safe change implementation practices.
 - Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document technical findings clearly.
 - Team player with strong customer awareness and the ability to prioritize under pressure.
 
Required Qualifications & Skills
- B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a closely related discipline.
 - Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in Transmission Assurance or Transmission Support at Level 2 or Level 3.
