Role Summary
The Plant Head is accountable for the complete leadership and management of the Supa Plant, covering production planning, dispatch, stock management, labor deployment, safety, and quality. The role ensures zero rejection, on-time deliveries, high labor productivity, and cost efficiency, while fostering a positive, disciplined, and assertive working environment. The Plant Head will drive lean operations, labor retention strategies, IMS-based stock accuracy, and organizational discipline, ensuring alignment with Swift's mission of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Production Planning
- Plan and execute daily/weekly/monthly production schedules aligned with SCM & Sales.
- Ensure mass order execution by optimizing multiple molds per pallet size.
- Monitor OEE, efficiency, and machine uptime ≥ 92%.
2. Dispatch Planning & On-Time Delivery
- Develop and monitor dispatch plans, vehicle arrangements, and logistics coordination.
- Achieve ≥ 97% on-time delivery commitment.
- Collaborate with Sales & SCM to prioritize urgent orders and maintain 3-day execution promise.
3. Stock & IMS Management
- Ensure IMS-driven inventory accuracy for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Conduct cycle counts and reconciliations to eliminate mismatches.
- Maintain optimum stock to balance production demand and timely dispatch.
4. Labor Management (On-Roll & Contractors)
- Maintain most labor workforce on-roll; minimize over-dependence on contractors.
- Lead contractor hiring, deployment, and retention strategies to ensure labor availability.
- Implement labor engagement programs to reduce attrition and absenteeism.
5. Labor Training & Development
- Conduct regular training sessions on safety, process, quality, and productivity.
- Build a multi-skilled workforce capable of handling multiple operations.
- Drive team adherence to discipline, accountability, and Swift's performance culture.
6. Cost Optimization & Efficiency
- Drive cost-per-unit reduction year-on-year via lean projects, Kaizen, waste elimination.
- Optimize labor utilization, energy consumption, and material yield.
- Implement TPM & 5S for sustainable operational excellence.
7. Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE)
- Enforce zero-rejection manufacturing culture with strict quality control.
- Ensure full compliance with ISO, statutory, labor, and environmental norms.
- Conduct safety drills, audits, and awareness programs regularly.
8. Workplace Culture & Discipline
- Foster a positive, non-toxic, and assertive performing environment.
- Enforce discipline across all levels with fairness and consistency.
- Drive employee engagement, motivation, and a results-first mindset.
9. Maintenance & Infrastructure
- Ensure 100% preventive maintenance adherence for machines and molds.
- Monitor and extend mold lifecycle utilization.
- Support infrastructure/capex projects for plant expansion and modernization.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial / Plastics Engineering (mandatory).
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Operations / Industrial Management (MBA/PGDM).
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, or ISO systems will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
12–15 years of progressive experience in manufacturing (preferably plastics, or packaging-related industries).
Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (Plant Head / Operations Head / Senior Production Manager) managing 24x7 plant operations.
Proven track record in:
- Production planning & dispatch management
- Mass order execution with mold utilization
- Labor management (on-roll + contractors)
- Inventory control through IMS/ERP
- Lean manufacturing & cost optimization
- Customer audits and ISO/QMS compliance
Key Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of plastic molding processes, molds, and machine operations.
- Expertise in OEE monitoring, preventive maintenance, Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing tools.
- Ability to design and monitor production & dispatch plans under tight deadlines.
- Skilled in budget control, cost-per-unit monitoring, and operational efficiency.
Leadership & Managerial Skills
- Strong team-building and labor management capabilities (on-roll & contractors).
- Ability to train, mentor, and retain workforce, ensuring skill growth and low attrition.
- Excellent decision-making under pressure and strong problem-solving orientation.
- Ability to create a disciplined, positive, and assertive workplace culture.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Sales, SCM, QA, and R&D.
