Key Responsibilities:
A National Sales Manager's duties blend high-level strategy with hands-on team guidance.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive national sales strategies and plans to achieve business objectives and expand market presence for orthopedic products (e.g., implants, instruments, capital equipment).
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, recruit, and train a team of regional sales managers and territory sales representatives. Conduct performance reviews and foster a high-performing team culture.
- Business Development & Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers, including hospitals, clinics, orthopedic surgeons, hospital administrators, and procurement teams.
- Market Analysis & Monitoring: Continuously monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities and adjust strategies proactively.
- Clinical Collaboration: Partner with medical education, marketing, and clinical teams to conduct workshops, conferences, and provide essential clinical support and training to healthcare professionals.
- Sales Performance & Reporting: Establish sales targets, analyze sales data and metrics, prepare accurate sales forecasts and budgets, and present performance reports to senior leadership.
- Compliance: Ensure all sales activities adhere to industry regulations, healthcare compliance protocols, and company ethical standards.
Qualifications and SkillsSuccessful National Sales Managers possess a unique blend of leadership, sales expertise, and clinical understanding.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Science, Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is typically required; an MBA is a strong advantage.
- Experience: Extensive experience (typically years) in medical device sales, with a minimum of 5+ years in a senior leadership or national management role, preferably within the orthopedics or sports medicine sector.
- Technical Skills: Deep product knowledge of orthopedic devices, proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce), and a strong understanding of the hospital buying process and clinical workflows.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential. The role also demands strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to travel extensively.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
