Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Pre-Underwriting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will review incoming applications and supporting documentation to perform initial risk assessments, ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, and prepare cases for final underwriting review. This role plays a critical part in streamlining the underwriting process and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze insurance or loan applications and support documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform preliminary risk assessments in accordance with company guidelines and industry standards.
  • Identify missing or inconsistent information and communicate with applicants, brokers, or other stakeholders to obtain necessary data.
  • Organize and maintain accurate records and files to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Collaborate with underwriters to flag cases requiring detailed evaluation.
  • Use underwriting software and databases to input and manage application data.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, company policies, and underwriting criteria.
  • Prioritize workload to meet deadlines and support team productivity.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Basic understanding of underwriting principles and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with relevant software and databases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and time management abilities.
  • Prior experience in insurance, banking, or financial services preferred but not mandatory.
