About the role

As a Deputy General Manager - Market Development, you will lead the expansion and development of Oil Palm plantations in the assigned region. This includes driving farmer engagement, agronomy trials, training initiatives and collaboration with government departments to ensure strategic business growth. You will play a key role in shaping the region's agricultural landscape while ensuring operational excellence and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive area expansion under Oil Palm through farmer identification, land suitability assessments and contract farming in coordination with government departments
• Provide leadership in research, training, and people development within the allotted region
• Deliver agronomic and advisory services to ensure productive and sustainable Oil Palm plantations
• Conduct agronomic feasibility studies, policy reviews, and trials to enhance agricultural practices
• Guide farmers on irrigation, harvesting schedules and collection of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFBs)
• Liaise with the Department of Horticulture to ensure timely subsidy disbursements (plant material and fertiliser)
• Develop and implement SOPs to maintain plantation standards and compliance
• Maintain close relationships with Agriculture Universities, IOPR, and subject matter experts for continuous technical support
• Train field staff and farmers to improve productivity and build local capabilities
• Ensure timely reporting, documentation, and data-driven decision-making

Who are we looking for?

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agricultural Science or a related field.

Experience:

• 10-15 years of relevant experience in oil palm agronomy, agricultural advisory services, or plantation/nursery management
• Proven track record in managing large-scale agricultural projects and driving field-level execution

Skills:

• Deep knowledge of oil palm cultivation and agronomy best practices
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Proficient in data analysis; well-versed in Microsoft Excel
• Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and team leadership skills
• Comfortable with extensive travel across regions
