JOB DESCRIPTION:

MEP Engineer is a professional responsible for planning and designing in Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) practice. MEP engineers work with architects and other construction professionals to ensure that the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are correctly, installed, and maintained.

An MEP engineer works with a project management team, reports to a project director and has the following primary duties:

  • Diploma Electrical/Mechanical Exp. 8-9 years or B. tech Electrical/Mechanical Exp. 7 years
  • He needs to have working experience to execute the MEP works at the site (high side and low side) of electrical, plumbing (including pumps), HVAC, firefighting systems, FAS systems, IT networking, CCTV, etc.
  • Can review MEP drawings for accuracy before the site execution. Has the ability to get work executed at the site as per the design drawings and specifications.
  • Familiar with the latest construction practices and materials.
  • Coordination with the consultants' design team and the Contractors at the site.
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly progress reports and updates for the management.
  • Preparation of the work schedule and monitoring system. Monitor the work progress at the site.
  • Knowledge of estimation and rate analysis of MEP items is a must.
  • Must be able to check and certify the Contractor's bill.
  • Must have sound knowledge of Testing and commissioning of the systems.
  • Monitoring and maintaining safety procedures at the site.
  • Managing multiple MEP projects
  • Using project management software, AutoCAD and word processing programs to create MEP plans
  • Preparing cost estimates for electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems
  • Overseeing the work of the project management team and ensuring adherence to the project schedule
  • Coordinating on-site work with architects, structural engineers and electrical engineers
  • Providing MEP system installation, maintenance and technical advice to service providers, supervisors and inspectors
  • Inspecting, analysing and finding solutions for engineering issues related to the MEP features
  • Reviewing and evaluating the work of contractors, consultants and other construction industry professionals
  • Reviewing contractor drawings and installation method statements to ensure they comply with the MEP plan
  • Making technical clarifications to resolve coordination issues and design modifications to suit specific on-site construction requirements
  • Monitoring and maintaining on-site health and safety policies and explaining the necessity of complying with these to the crew
  • Undertaking off-site inspections of MEP equipment and materials to ensure compliance with regulations and project suitability.
