Job Description – Senior Manager (Design & Engineering, Solar EPC – Ground-Mounted Projects)

Position Overview

The Senior Manager – Design & Engineering will be primarily responsible for
reviewing, validating, and approving engineering designs and drawings prepared by external engineering consultants
for ground-mounted solar EPC projects. The role requires ensuring technical accuracy, compliance with applicable standards, optimization for cost and performance, and smooth integration with project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design Review & Validation

  2. Review and validate drawings, designs, and engineering documents submitted by consultants (including SLDs, GA drawings, layouts, and equipment sizing).

  3. Ensure compliance with IEC/IS codes, MNRE, DISCOM, and CEA requirements.
  4. Evaluate designs for constructability, safety, and long-term performance.

  5. Verify PVsyst reports, energy yield assessments, and equipment selection.

  6. Approval & Coordination

  7. Provide timely technical approvals of consultant deliverables.

  8. Coordinate with consultants, clients, and statutory bodies for design clarifications and approvals.

  9. Ensure engineering documents are aligned with project BOQ, specifications, and contract requirements.

  10. Project Execution Support

  11. Guide the project and construction teams by clarifying design-related queries.

  12. Monitor implementation to ensure adherence to approved designs.

  13. Review as-built drawings and handover documentation.

  14. Optimization & Risk Mitigation

  15. Identify design gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities in consultant submissions.

  16. Recommend value-engineering measures to optimize costs without compromising quality.

  17. Ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency in the final design.

  18. Leadership & Teamwork

  19. Lead internal engineering review meetings.

  20. Mentor junior engineers in design review processes.
  21. Coordinate cross-functionally with procurement, execution, and quality teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Power/Renewable Energy (M.Tech preferred).
  • 10–15 years of experience in solar EPC projects, with significant exposure to
    design review and approvals
    .
  • Strong knowledge of PV system design (DC & AC side), grid connectivity, substation interface, and protection systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PVsyst, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Proven ability to manage consultants and ensure quality deliverables.
