Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Quality Engineer – Open Access Solar, based in Pune. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing and overseeing the quality of various stages of solar project development and execution. Day-to-day tasks include implementing quality control measures, conducting inspections and tests, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining detailed quality documentation. The engineer will collaborate closely with the engineering, procurement, and construction teams to enhance product quality and address any issues promptly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to quality standards across all stages of solar project execution (design, procurement, construction, commissioning).
  • Implement and monitor QA/QC processes for EPC and O&M activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and material testing to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Review and approve material inspection reports (MIRs), work inspection requests (WIRs), and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to address quality issues promptly.
  • Develop and maintain project quality documentation including QAPs, ITPs, and checklists.
  • Verify contractor and vendor quality systems and ensure compliance with ISO and project standards.
  • Monitor installation workmanship of modules, structures, cabling, and electrical systems.
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning quality activities.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain calibration and traceability of testing equipment.
  • Train site teams and subcontractors on quality procedures and best practices.
  • Prepare and present periodic quality performance reports to management.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE and statutory requirements in all quality activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of experience in QA/QC roles within solar EPC or renewable energy projects.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant IS/IEC/ASTM standards and QA/QC documentation practices.
  • Experience in Open Access or Ground Mount Solar projects preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and quality management tools.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting skills.
