Defense Business Development Leader Technology Vertical

We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished veteran to lead our defence business development efforts in the Technology Vertical. This strategic leadership role is focused exclusively on Defence and Government of India procurement. The successful candidate will leverage their deep understanding of the Defence ecosystem to secure new contracts, manage complex sales cycles, and drive significant revenue growth.
Location: Ideally based in Northern India (New Delhi NCR preferred). Relocation to Belgaum is NOT required.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and execute an aggressive business development strategy to achieve sales targets for our technology products within the Indian Defence sector.
Procurement Expertise: Utilize an in-depth, functional knowledge of Defence and Government of India procurement norms, procedures (DAP), and tender processes (RFI, RFP, Tenders) to effectively position and sell our products.
High-Level Engagement: Drive sales at the HQ levels in New Delhi (MOD, Service HQs, DRDO, etc.) as well as managing engagement with regional military units and commands across India.
Field Operations & Sales: Undertake substantial field travel (expected 10-15 days per month) to military bases, border areas, training facilities, and other remote locations for customer meetings, product demonstrations, and driving field trials/acceptance.
Team Management: Manage the associated technical teams that will support product demonstrations, trials, and post-sales activities.
Commercial Collaboration: Work closely with commercial and contracts teams to prepare and submit high-quality, compliant RFI/RFP responses, bids, and tenders.
Required Candidate Profile:
Experience & Rank: Must be an Ex-Defence Officer with a background as Major, Lt. Colonel, or Colonel, or equivalent ranks in the Indian Navy or Indian Air Force.
Domain Expertise: 15+ years of professional experience, with significant tenure directly involved in or dealing with Defence procurement/sales in the technology domain.
Age Profile: Ideal age is 35 to 55 years.
Communication: Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills are mandatory, with the ability to build immediate trust and credibility with senior military and government officials.
Travel: Proven ability and willingness to undertake extensive and frequent travel to remote and field locations.
