SolarWinds Administrator

About the Role

We are seeking a forward-thinking SolarWinds Administrator to lead the evolution of our enterprise observability strategy while ensuring the stability, scalability, and intelligence of our IT infrastructure monitoring platform.

In this role, you will:

Administer and enhance the SolarWinds ecosystem.

Implement critical system integrations.

Contribute to infrastructure transformation initiatives that improve detection, diagnosis, and resolution of IT issues.

You will bridge monitoring, automation, and data-driven insights to build a unified, proactive observability framework across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Observability & Monitoring Excellence

Design, configure, and maintain SolarWinds Orion and its modules (HCO, NPM, SAM, DPA, IPAM, NTA, EOC, etc.) for end-to-end infrastructure visibility.

Establish intelligent alerting, dynamic thresholds, and anomaly detection to reduce noise and improve MTTR.

Develop dashboards, custom views, and asset groupings to deliver actionable insights.

Ensure platform high availability, performance, and data integrity through proactive maintenance and capacity planning.

1. Integration Implementation

Design and deploy bi-directional integrations between SolarWinds and enterprise systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, CMDBs, automation tools, cloud monitoring).

Use APIs, webhooks, PowerShell, Python, RESTful services to automate synchronization, correlation, and incident enrichment.

Integrate observability data with incident, change, and problem management processes.

1. Infrastructure Transformation & Modernization

Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to align observability with cloud migration (Azure/AWS) and hybrid adoption.

Drive tool standardization, automation, and consolidation to enhance efficiency.

Maintain and update HLDs, network diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs.

Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and testing to ensure resilience.

1. Data Governance & Service Enablement

Maintain accurate asset metadata in SolarWinds (business owners, contacts, vendors, tags, etc.) for CMDB integrity.

Deliver reports on availability, performance, capacity, and compliance.

Manage user roles, permissions, and access control per security standards.

Support IPAM, configuration backups, and database monitoring.

1. Operational Support

Provide after-hours/on-call support during maintenance windows.

Troubleshoot complex cross-domain issues using telemetry and topology data.

Promote continuous improvement and automation in observability operations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.

5+ years of hands-on SolarWinds administration (Orion Platform, core modules).

7+ years of IT infrastructure experience (networking, systems, databases, monitoring).

Experience with end-to-end observability solutions across infrastructure and applications.

Proven integration experience with ITSM, automation, or cloud platforms.

Strong knowledge of Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, WMI, NetFlow.

Skilled in PowerShell, Python, SQL scripting for automation.

Understanding of IT security, access governance, and data compliance.

SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) certification is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

CCNA, MCP, or ITIL v4 certification(s).

Experience supporting global, multi-tier infrastructure under SLAs.

Familiarity with Azure, AWS, and hybrid observability models.

Exposure to AIOps, Splunk/ELK, telemetry pipelines.

Experience with IT transformation, cloud adoption, or SRE practices.

Strong communication skills—able to translate observability insights into business impact.
