Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished and result-oriented General Manager Contracts (Contract Head) to lead our Contracts & Commercial function. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the end-to-end contract lifecycle across all infrastructure verticals, ensuring commercial viability, legal compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic alignment with the organizations objectives.

This leadership role is critical in driving commercial success across our portfolio and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders including clients, partners, consultants, and legal authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire Contracts function across all projects including Pre and Post Award Management.
• Draft, review, and negotiate high-value contracts including EPC, FIDIC-based contracts, Joint Ventures, Sub-contracts, and Consortium Agreements.
• Analyze project requirements and tender documents; ensure contractual risks are identified, evaluated, and mitigated.
• Establish standardized contract management frameworks and governance mechanisms across projects.
• Provide strategic advice to leadership on contractual obligations, claims, disputes, and commercial matters.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Projects, Planning, Procurement, Legal, and Finance to ensure contract compliance and optimization.
• Oversee claims management including preparation, defense, negotiation, and settlement of claims/disputes with clients and sub-contractors.
• Ensure proper documentation, change order management, and tracking of project deliverables and contractual milestones.
• Maintain strong client relationships and lead negotiations on contentious contractual matters.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices, legal changes, and policy updates to ensure proactive compliance and risk management.

Key Requirements

• Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Mechanical Engineering; MBA/LLB preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience: Minimum 15–25 years in Contracts & Commercial Management, with a strong focus on infrastructure/EPC projects.
• Industry Exposure: Must have worked in reputed infrastructure companies like NCC, Afcons, L&T, Kalpataru, HCC, Shapoorji Pallonji, Ahluwalia Contracts, HG Infra, Megha Engineering, Patel Engineering, etc.
• Contractual Expertise: Thorough understanding of FIDIC, EPC, PPP, BOOT, and Government tendering processes.
• Leadership: Proven capability in leading high-performing contracts teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong business orientation with excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
• Communication: Superior written and verbal communication with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
